Okavango Delta - Vumbura Plains

5 meerkat rating

A splurge indeed! Vumbura Plains has an enviable reputation as one of the most extravagant and sought-after lodges in Delta. And while we do love all the little ‘extras’ (like an Olympus photo hub), it’s Vumbura’s location in the Kwedi concession - which allows for walking, ballooning, night drives and helicopter flips – that makes it really special.

Chobe - Ngoma Safari Lodge

5 meerkat rating

If it’s uninterrupted vistas of the Chobe floodplains you want, then that’s what you’ll get at Ngoma. Built on a ridge, it has sweeping views down to the Chobe River, a beacon for massive herds of elephant and buffalo. This is a sophisticated lodge with quirky touches in the décor and welcome extras like sun-splashed plunge pools.

Moremi, Khwai & Private Reserves - Sandibe Okavango Safari Lodge

6 meerkat rating

Sandibe goes beyond all expectations in service and design. The eco-friendly architecture is fresh and innovative – an inspiring base from which to explore this private reserve bordering Moremi. Game viewing is exceptional and focuses on day and night game drives in this predator-rich area.

Savuti, Linyanti & Selinda - Zarafa Camp

6 meerkat rating

Zarafa offers fantastic game viewing, exceptional service and creative cuisine in the exclusive Selinda concession. Beaten copper and polished wood dominate throughout, while private fireplaces, plunge pools and outdoor showers add serious comfort. Throw in try-before-you-buy Swarovski binoculars and a Canon DSLR with lens kit for every guest and you’ve got THE extraordinary safari experience.

Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, National Park & Nxai Pan - Jack’s Camp

5 meerkat rating

It’s easy to picture the likes of Ernest Hemingway hanging out in this 1940s-style tented camp, bedecked with heavy brocades and an astonishing array of artefacts. Take advantage of the in-depth guiding to reveal layers of natural history from lion skulls to ancient stone tools. Explore the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans by quad bike, converse with the San people and meet the resident meerkats.

Central Kalahari - Capture Africa Kalahari Private Mobile Safari

5 meerkat rating

Capture Africa provides little luxuries to exceed your expectations while glamping in the Central Kalahari. En suite Meru tents are set up in the middle of nowhere with comfy beds and creative touches from your own private library to bedside lamps made from kudu horns. Top off the experience with expert guiding, fantastic food and vast horizons where you’re unlikely to see another soul.

Victoria Falls - Mpala Jena

5 meerkat rating

The new kid on the block in the Zambezi National Park, Mpala Jena (‘white impala’) is the “love child” of world-renowned documentary makers Dereck and Beverly Joubert. The interiors are best described as Arabia-meets-Africa with unexpected touches like weathered antique doors. This camp gives you the best of both worlds: game viewing in the park and proximity to the Falls.

Hwange - Linkwasha Camp

5 meerkat rating

Linkwasha lies within a private concession in the south-eastern corner of Hwange National Park, overlooking not only a busy waterhole but also the Ngamo Plains. This camp is a great ‘all-rounder’ with a little something for everyone: excellent game viewing, cultural experiences, a sleep-out, a hide, a swimming pool and even an Olympus camera hub to boost your wildlife shots.

Mana Pools - Little Ruckomechi

5 meerkat rating

Mana Pools offers another dimension to your safari – the chance to get out onto the Zambezi River for canoeing, catch-and-release fishing and those all-important sunset cruises! Little Ruckomechi’s explorer-style ambiance is made even more idyllic by its views over the water to the hills of neighbouring Zambia.

South Luangwa - Chinzombo

6 meerkat rating

When you’ve had your fill roughing it, Chinzombo is the place in South Luangwa for unbridled luxury and pampering. The huge tents have all the mod cons and step onto private decks with plunge pools overlooking the unpredictable Luangwa River. Chinzombo is ideal for your honeymoon or anniversary splurge!

Lower Zambezi - Anabezi Camp

5 meerkat rating

Built on the site of the former colonial governor’s retreat, the current Anabezi Camp’s roots go all the way back to 1989 when few people had even heard of Lower Zambezi National Park, let alone been there. The large tents overlook ana or winterthorn trees, almost guaranteeing you elephant sightings as they come to feed on the trees’ delicious fallen pods.

Kruger Private Reserves - Royal Malewane

6 meerkat rating

Its setting in the private Thornybush Game Reserve gives Royal Malewane not only exclusivity but also access to superb Big 5 sightings. Its safari style is all about romance, luxury and sophistication: the interiors are eclectic mixes of antiques, pops of colour and unusual art, far removed from the usual ‘bush camp’ look.
