A New Pulse in the Okavango Delta – Introducing Singita Elela

When the Okavango Delta spreads its silver channels across Botswana, it shapes one of Earth’s most inspiring wildernesses, a living, breathing ecosystem where water dictates life. Soon, Singita Elela will become part of that rhythm, opening in December 2026.

“Elela” means to flow in Setswana, which speaks to the lodge’s purpose to live in harmony with the Delta, not above it. It is located in the Singita Private Concession, a 170,000-hectare wilderness (formerly known as the Abu Concession) in the north-western Okavango. This will be Singita’s first property in Botswana, bringing its celebrated blend of refined design, soulful service and conservation integrity to the heart of Africa’s greatest wetland.

Strengthening Botswana’s Luxury Safari Legacy

For years, lodges such as Mombo Camp, Xigera Safari Lodge, Jao Camp and Duba Plains Camp have set the standard for Botswana’s high-end safari. Singita Elela now joins this exceptional group, further strengthening Botswana’s position as one of the world’s most sought-after safari destinations.

Elela is designed for travellers who value privacy, meaningful time in nature and a true sense of place. It brings a calm, grounded presence to the Delta, paired with Singita’s trusted approach to thoughtful design, service and conservation.

The Singita Private Concession

The Singita Private Concession is located west of Chief’s Island, an area renowned for its exceptional wildlife and diverse habitats. Here the landscape moves between open floodplains, calm lagoons edged with reeds, palm islands and mopane woodlands. Elephant, lion, leopard, wild dog and hundreds of bird species roam freely through this remarkable wilderness.

Because it is a private concession, guests enjoy a level of freedom not possible in national parks. Off-road wildlife encounters, guided walking safaris and night drives reveal the Delta from a different perspective. When the waters rise, mokoro and boating activities offer a new way to experience this extraordinary place.

Purpose and Beauty Aligned

Every Singita property is built with a clear conservation purpose, and Singita Elela is no different.

The private concession will be managed to protect wildlife and habitats, support research and create opportunities for surrounding communities. Each guest stay plays a part in safeguarding the Delta’s future.

Key initiatives include:
• Long-term habitat management and biodiversity monitoring
• Anti-poaching and ecological research programmes
• Local employment, training and community partnerships
• Responsible building and off-grid sustainability

At Elela, every touch of comfort supports something lasting. Luxury here is not just an experience, it is part of the Delta’s preservation.

Elevating Botswana’s High-End Safari Offering

For discerning travellers, the Okavango Delta has long offered exceptional safari experiences, with lodges like Xigera Safari Lodge, Jao Camp , Jack’s Camp, and Tawana Camp setting the standard for luxury and conservation. Singita Elela builds on this legacy while bringing its own distinctive approach.

Its strength lies in a quiet, understated style and a clear sense of purpose.
