Across Botswana, the safari landscape has shifted. Camps are becoming grander, more elaborate, more architectural. There is beauty in that, but also a quiet cost. The wild retreats a step. The silence softens. This is where the timeless authenticity of safari life remains beautifully intact.
These new under canvas camps bring that spirit back. They offer what so many travellers crave today: a deeper, more honest way to experience Botswana. The canvas invites the breeze, the open air creates a natural ease and lantern light gives the evenings a quiet glow. Nothing here overshadows the wilderness; everything settles into it so the landscape can be felt just as it is.
When the Wild Comes First: Introducing Sandibe and Nxabega Under Canvas
From 1 March 2026, andBeyond will open two intimate camps in the heart of the Okavango Delta: Sandibe Under Canvasand Nxabega Under Canvas. With only three tents at each camp, these retreats offer rare privacy and an unfiltered sense of place. The atmosphere is quiet, considered and beautifully simple. The landscape leads; the comforts follow.
A small footprint and a big sense of space
With just three tents per camp, the experience is intentionally exclusive. There is no crowd, no pressure, no visual noise. Only the sound of the Delta, the rhythm of wildlife, and the feeling of being exactly where you are meant to be.
Comfort that belongs in the bush
Each tent includes a super king sized bed, ensuite bathroom with hot running water, and a shaded veranda facing the wilderness. Wifi is available, but rarely needed. The atmosphere encourages you to live by the sunlight, the stars and the pulse of the bush.
Two moods of the Okavango Delta
Sandibe Under Canvas sits within one of the most predator rich concessions in Botswana. Lion, leopard and wild dog move through this terrain with confidence, creating a safari that feels thrilling and alive.
Nxabega Under Canvas celebrates the quieter, water shaped side of the Delta. Seasonal floodplains shimmer, mokoro excursions drift through reeds and birdlife fills the air. It is gentle, reflective and deeply peaceful.
Experiences include mokoro outings when water levels allow, game drives, island walks, helicopter flights, birding and time to simply sit and absorb the stillness.
