Okavango Delta - Pelo Camp

4 meerkat rating

Pelo Camp truly is the quintessential Delta camp, a little paradise set on a heart-shaped island. Slow down, relax and enjoy the beauty of this magical part of the Okavango, exploring the area by traditional mokoro, motorboat and on foot. Here you find some unique Delta wildlife including sitatunga and lechwe as well as ‘lifer’ birds including Pel’s fishing owl, wattled crane and African skimmer.

Chobe - Chobe Bakwena

3 meerkat rating

Chobe Bakwena is an affordable yet stylish camp run by environmentally-aware, community-minded owners. The atmosphere is personal and welcoming ‘lodge’ style in an area where hotels are more the norm. The river and tree-top chalets feature colourful hints of traditional Africa with modern conveniences. Activities offered focus on game viewing by boat and game-drive vehicle along the Chobe River.

Moremi, Khwai & Private Concessions - Mma Dinare Camp

4 meerkat rating

We love the fact that the owners have opted to create an affordable camp in this private concession. While it is situated in the southern Delta, which by nature is seasonally flooding, Mma Dinare overlooks the Gomoti River which usually flows for most of the year. This combination of land and water sustains a wealth of wildlife and day and night game drives are consistently good, in addition to offering a traditional mokoro activity.

Savuti, Linyanti & Selinda - Linyanti Tented Camp

4 meerkat rating

This camp offers an incredible opportunity for small groups and families of four to eight guests to have a private and affordable experience in one of Botswana’s prime wildlife areas. The great news is that they are now also opening up for individual bookings – making this Linyanti more accessible. Game viewing in the Wilderness Linyanti Private Concession is best in the dry season from May to October, where one can see massive elephant herds and have great predator sightings. The camp itself is refreshingly simple and delightfully private!

Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, National Park & Nxai Pan - Nxai Pan Camp

4 meerkat rating

Good things come in small packages. Nxai Pan may be a relatively small national park with a modest game-drive route but it offers a diverse and excellent-value desert experience year-round. Wait by the waterholes for the game to come to you in the dry season, catch the amazing zebra migration during green season or just enjoy the open pans, magnificent Baines’ Baobabs and guided walks.

Central Kalahari - Tau Pan Camp

4 meerkat rating

Escape the world and explore a remote corner of the Kalahari Desert from the comfortable base of Tau Pan Camp. Experience the unexpected beauty of the Kalahari in winter or travel during summer’s rainy season to catch sizable herds of springbok and oryx, as well as the thunderstorms rolling in across the open expanse.

Hwange - Khulu Bush Camp

3 meerkat rating

Situated in a private concession just outside Hwange National Park, Ivory Lodge offers the best of both worlds where one can enjoy guided walks and game drives in the concession as well exploratory game drives into the national park. One of the best parts of the day at Ivory is sundowner time, relaxing on the deck, enjoying a parade of wildlife meandering down to the waterhole in front of camp. With the option of an upgrade to the private Khulu’s Retreat, or the more affordable sister Ivory Lodge, there is something to suit everyone.

Accommodation is in traditional-style chalets under thatch while the main area is stylish and open, and includes a unique thermal spring hot tub to relax in.

Lower Zambezi - Kanyemba Lodge

Situated less than two hours by road from Lusaka, Kanyemba offers an accessible Zambezi escape. Situated 45 kilometres upstream from the Zambezi National Park, Kanyemba focuses mainly on river activities including game viewing by boat and canoe as well as fishing. On longer stays you can venture out on a day-trip into the park, seasons permitting. The lodge owner is an eccentric character sharing his obvious passion for wildlife and the community with guests.
