This Year Luxury Safari Means Something Different

Posted by:

Our wonderful guests Anna and Francesco have shared so much of their safari with us and Anna has so beautifully responded to Nadine’s earlier blog about what a luxury safari means.

Before my journey to Botswana this year the word “ luxury” was, to me, a mixture of different things:

Enjoying the cool sunrise with a cup of hot coffee sitting near the fire while nature is awaking

Being in the middle of nowhere in a tent where only a tiny piece of canvas separates me from the wilderness,

Enjoying the moment the sunset gives way to the night and the darkness suddenly gets bright with millions of stars,

Listening to the night silence full of “wild noises

But this year “Luxury “meant something different.

While Covid prevented people from travelling and we were so lucky to manage to go on safari, that was luxury in itself, but there was something more:
Spending hours watching animals with the only sound of our breath

Getting blinded by the dazzling light of a pan while crossing it in complete solitude

Hearing the sound of splashing water where elephant played, with no crowds around

Gliding slowly across the crystal waters where lilies had just opened at the only sound of the mokoro pole and completely alone

All of that was real luxury and for the first time I felt completely disconnected with the “ordinary” world but deeply connected with this wonderful nature where the word “wild” finally got a meaning.

Our Safari Specialists YouTube channel features some of their journey under Guest Experiences October 2021.

Anna and Francesco visited Victoria Falls, Chobe National Park, Kwando Linyanti Private Reserve, Nxai Pan National Park and the Okavango Delta – a wonderfully diverse itinerary designed by Safari Specialist Nadine.
